Nike World Basketball Festival

Nike World Basketball Festival

The Nike World Basketball Festival was held at the 63rd Street Beach House in Chicago. This event and exhibition highlighted Chicago Basketball history, shared Nike Basketball stories, and included a product showcase featuring the official USA Basketball uniforms and Hyperdunk basketball shoes.

Originally built in 1919 on the shore of Lake Michigan, the 63rd Street Beach House offered the perfect backdrop to showcase Chicago’s rich basketball history alongside Nike’s legacy of innovation.

We designed the exhibition/event space to reflect this fusion of past and future, juxtaposing the existing rough and worn structure of the beach house with a series of highly refined, mirrored exhibition fixtures. The form of the fixtures provided a feeling of mass and gravity, while their reflections in the mirrors caused them to nearly disappear. This tension between the tangible and intangible created a highly-charged, engaging, and memorable space for the visitor.
